Triathlon used to be a pretty big part of my life. I was way into it….had a coach, ranswimbiked for a lot of my free time. This was in the strange, unfamiliar window that housed a post working Kate/new mom Kate and pre photography Kate.

I needed something of my own. I had already done a few marathons and being the type A athlete nerd that I am, I had my sights on triathlon….and finishing an Ironman.

Well, in 2007 I finished my first (and last) Ironman. 140.6 miles of hard. Very hard. And in the process burned myself out. I’ve not done a tri in 3 years and while that makes me sad, I know it has been the right thing to do for me and my family.

However, when my eight year old asked to do one, I was ALL OVER it. Of course! She loved it and we’ve found one we can do together….now, it is no Ironman, which is just fine by me and definitely more my speed these days.
